So, tonight was the worst night ever, or so it would appear, to go to a concert. Unbeknownst to me, I did it anyways. Thankfully, the aftermath was small and well handled. It took a few hours, but it has been done. I won’t go into details (here), but I’m watching you, like a hawk ;)

Anyways, on to the fun events of the evening (until I arrived home).
Tonight was what will probably be the last concert of the summer, unless something hugely great shows up. I’m going to try to make the Black Label Society show in Des Moines in November, but seeing as I’ve got another beauty showing up in November (My PS3!!), I may not make that one ;). The event? The Gin Blossoms. Talk about a kick ass show, one of the better ones I’ve been to. Even Roger, in all his glory, would have a hard time topping this one.

It started around 830, we didn’t get out of there until about 1030. The hits were done, the usual was done, new stuff, etc. We met Robin (lead singer) beforehand because Mike and Jonah were handing out flyers. I wasn’t supposed to get a “backstage pass”, but they were, because of the work with him. It turned out that all a “backstage pass” was was being able to meet Robin before the gig, and, well, we did that, and then some. We got a picture of all of us as a group with Robin before the gig (will post when I get it), and Mike and I took a picture of us with him after the gig.

Of course, this was kind of cool too. Before the concert, we ended up looking behind where we were, and Robin was on the roof of the hotel. Talk about cool.

Before the show, as well, Mike met Scotty J., of RCPM AND the Gin Blossoms. Not really part of the “plan” as it were, but it worked out well for Mike who had his picture taken, and had his stuff signed from both bands.

The concert itself was great, Robin is definitely a “lead singer” type, the usual stunts, attention getting stuff were definitely there (not that this is bad, mind you). It was a fabulous time. I can’t COUNT the number of cell phones he took from the crowd and sang to whomever they were talking to, they LOVED it! Below is him on Mike’s phone talking to Auma (his grandmother).

It would seem, as well, that mister Robin needed some sort of stronger underarm anti-perspirant. Not sure I would want to be riding on THAT bus tonight ;)

We did the getting lost thing in Des Moines, apparently, there is no official 3rd street exit sign (which we were looking for), so we ended up going about 15 miles outside of our path, then doing a u-turn on the freeway. Hey, it was fun, and we blame construction man ;). We had a blast.

More pictures up tomorrow in the gallery, once I get stuff downloaded and re-situated.
