Hello, Moto, can you hear me now?
BySo, here we are two weeks into the new year, and one of my resolutions (I didn’t hve many, the u sual, lose weight, stop smoking, all that crap) has been accomplished:
After 4-5 years with a myriad of problems on Sprint’s network, I finally gave in last week and picked up a new phone, moving on over to Verizon. Let me tell you, the difference is just night and day!
Sprint:
9/10 times I call, I get forwarded to an ‘Indian’ call center. No offense, but I don’t want my money going to someone who can barely speak the English language
Verizon:
3 calls placed (so far) and all very clearly understood ENGLISH SPEAKING individuals! Bonus!
Sprint:
Rush through the call, try to get you off the phone ASAP
Verizon:
First call was rather quick, only because I needed it to be
Second call was intended to be quick, but the CSA was decent enough to give me a “new customer walkthrough”, real fast. This shows dedication to SERVICE, not just dedication to taking my money!
Sprint:
Constant dropped calls in my own apartment. Why? God only knows, but it’s been like this for years now
Verizon:
Dropped calls? Not a one. Reception? Incredible.
Sprint:
I’m sorry, but you can’t use a credit card to pay your bills (WTF, I’m a paying CUSTOMER, right?). You can’t pay from our page, you can’t pay from our (callin) bill pay option. We refuse to ‘bill you’ via bank. The only ways to pay?
A> Mail check in (bah, mail is so overrated and slow)
B> Go to an ‘authorized’ retailer, pay THEM $5 to make the payment
C> Call in, make the payment, and be CHARGED $5.
For years I put up wwith that shit, literally. Even after telling them about this, their response was that of ‘we don’t care’. Well, if THEY don’t care, I don’t care to keep doing business there!
Verizon? Haven’t had the issue yet, but I’m certain it’ll be a pleasurable experience, everything else has. I’m still waiting on a bill from them, we’ll see how it goes.
Comparing the phones, the q9m (the one I got) was a bit of an upgrade, not much, and a bit of a hassle in some departments.
A> New software was needed, as PPC software, not going to work with SP software . BOOOH ! They’re both Windows Mobile, who cares if they’re ppc or SP .
B> PPC and SP ‘handling’ is different, due to the fact that a SP has no ‘stylus’, but a ppc does.
C> The SP (so far) handles the battery better. The same tasks are handled much more efficiently with the SP than the PPC, and batteries last me 24 + hours with the q9m, as opposed to 6-10 with the PPC.
D> The PPC looks ugly, and feels ugly, and bulky, as opposed to the Q9M being about the size of my ipod.
E> Keyboards are completely different, as the PPC had a slideout, while the Q9M doesn’t. Just takes a bit of getting used to
All in all, the Q9M is an upgrade (at least to me) phone, most definitely. I’d do it all over again, and will upgrade again in a couple years when I’m eligible!
