I can SEE
By 0 viewsI’ve known my video card was going to have to be replaced for a few weeks, but kept puting it off, hoping that I could wait until a more convenient time. Well, the "more convenient time" was forced upon me, but it doesn’t end there.
It started Friday night, I happened to notice that my speakers, which I’d had for a good 4, 5 years had started to really fade on me, to the point where they were barely pulling stuff in.
Of course, I took ‘em out of the jack, looked @ ‘em and doing so jiggled the AGP / VGA adaptor for the ATI card, which was already on the brink of crap.
Turned out that the speakers were shot (hey, they’re electronics, and were a few years old), so I ordered a better pair, for MUCH less than what I’d paid for the original pair. Of course, the speakers were better, or will be once I get ‘em.
Since doing this, my ATI adaptor decided it was out and needed to be repaired. It wasn’t completely toast, but it was displaying crap for red, green and blue. Somehow the card just got toasted (or the adaptor), making it even worse than it was before.
So, I went down today, picked me up an NVidia card with double the ddr for LESS than what I paid for the original ATI. Of course, I don’t have the tv adaptor, but I can add that through a pci card should I care to at a later time. The point is I CAN SEEEEEE
It’s kind of funny, really, going from dull red green blue to extreme red green and blue , kind of hard on the eyes but it works.
Next project? Time to see how WELL this card works under suse 9.1 . Yep, I’m going to reinstall Linux, see how well I can do with it!
Lata!!
