Welcome to UPS, how can we screw you today?
By 3 viewsI ordered (through Ebay) a bunch of stuff on the 15th. The usual Ebay response was it’ll be 1-2 weeks, with tracking #’s.
Well, it came time for one of those items to get here, and passed, and nothing was here. I’m sitting here thinking to myself "What has happened?" No worries, I check online, and find that the number hasn’t been updated in 36 hours, and that the las location was Hodgekins, IL, one of their hubs before running it here.
I called UPS, and asked about it, they said "It’ll be there today, no worries", so I didn’t worry. 5pm came around, and OBVIOUSLY it’s not getting here today, so I called again. Their response was just classical.
"I’m sorry Mr. Whiting, but there is nothing we can do since it is not past the time when it should be there". Hrrm, so I point out that it’s 5pm and it should be here by now. The guy agrees, but rambles on more. Finally, I demand to speak to a supervisor which I got.
Supervisor came on the phone, gave me the same crap, and I told her that I would give her 2 hours to figure out just where the hell it was, and she was to call me back. Sure enough, she did just that, an hour later.
"Mr. Whiting, the package will be there tomorrow". This was Thursday, the 19th.
Friday afternoon came and went, no packages. I called again, they said it’s stuck in Hodgekins, same crap, different person. I finally told them to have someone call me back, which they did.
When the individual called me back, she couldn’t be any more specific but told me she would personally look @ it, which I’d been told numerous times before. Something said she would though, so I let it go for then.
2 hours later, I get a call back, saying the package has been found, that it was being shipped back to Utah because the label was unreadable. She was looking for a specific product by this time. I asked when she could get it back to here, to me, and she said Monday it’d be shipped from Utah here and it’d be here Tuesday.
Tuesday came, went, and still no package. I called on Tuesday and she apologized saying the package was delayed in Utah. She called me back again, saying it WOULD be here Thursday. By this time we’re a week overdue and I’m more than just a bit upset.
Thursday comes and goes, still no package. Thursday afternoon, I call the local office , speak to Becky again, and find that some jackass has shipped the package to my street address in New York! Goodie, more delays right? Becky said she’d look at it and contact me immediately when she knew something.
Friday morning, first thing, I get a call from Becky saying that the package isn’t in New York, but NJ, because they realized there was no address such as mine in NY. She said they’d have it shipped here, hopefully next day air, but who knows as it’s not here yet.
Anyways, the long and short.
If you want a package to get delivered, DON’T go through UPS. You’ll have nothing but delays and stall tactics anywhere you go. 2 weeks AFTER the original date, I’m quite sure I won’t have my package back here, and I’ll be one pissed mother, as this cost ME $75 to get. You’d think that these people would be a little more professional with their customers.

Well, thankfully the package arrived, although 2 weeks later. It would have been more complicated to try to deliver a package to a house I don’t live in any longer I guess.
That said:
tomorrow is moving day, *censored*, I hope this is the last time that I do this for a VEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRY long time. My front room is full of boxes, my room is torn apart, hell my life is full of boxes….. Well, I’m stuck in this new place for at least a year, but looking @ it, it looks perfect, compared to what I’m living in now.
Hopefully the move won’t take too long, updates more often, hopefully.

Yikes, I shouldn’t have closed the case on this one so early. Teach me to open my trap a bit early, ehh?
So, this was an item picked up on E-Bay. Admittedly, the seller had no responsibility, or fault for the shipping provider, and I talked to him a bit about it. His response? I’ll be damned if this isn’t just scary shit people:
"I’m sorry, but it’ll take 2 days to ship the product (to SHIP the product mind you). We do have them in stock, but it takes 2 days to get it out to you".
Ok, no biggie. I called UPS the night he said that (a Thursday night), they said they’d look into it and call him back. Once they did, however, they said HE refused to reship the product. They told me his words were "I’m not going to reship the product, no matter how much you pay me. I’m a small business and I don’t need this crap". Oy.
So, thankfully it arrived on Tuesday (last week), but when I went to put in a neg. feedback due to his refusal to work with his own shipping agency, HE leaves ME a neg. claiming I’m irresponsible, foolish and the like.
Let’s try to recap here:
A> I paid within 24 hours (think this one was 12 actually)
B> As SOON as they screwed this order up, I got on the phone with UPS to figure out WHAT happened
C> I managed to get him his shipping costs returned (not that I’ve seen a penny of that mind you).
D> I was extremely (extremely) patient. 2 weeks AFTER it was supposed to be here, it got here.
This could have turned into a bloody MESS, what with me moving (the day AFTER it got here) and everything. Of course, all the buyer thinks about is his neg, not how he treated the customer, or the crap he caused by packing the item poorly (which resulted in the shipping labels being unreadable by UPS, which resulted in 2 weeks delay).
Thankfully, it’s here and that’s over with. Never again will I embark on such an adventure with that individual, and HOPEFULLY (hopefully) I won’t hear from ‘im for a long long while.
