Gone, but not forgotten

After nearly 6 years on Facebook, I’ve finally done it. My account has been deactivated. Permamently? Perhaps. Temporarily? Perhaps. That much, I’m not sure of. What I am sure of is that I’m sick of the drama, sick of the garbage, sick and tired of the approach that social media encourages.

I find it absolutely atrocious that in this day and age, grown adults insult you for having an opinion different from theirs. This is encouraged, of course, by social media sites, where, hey, you, the anonymous coward (and even a few of you who AREN’T so anonymous) feel you have the right to insult someone’s opinion, or better, call them a ‘troll’, just because they don’t agree with your opinion.

We preach on and on about bullying needing to be gone, but guess what? This is precisely what bullying is

  1. intimidation of weaker person: the process of intimidating or mistreating somebody weaker or in a more vulnerable situation

use superior strength or influence to intimidate (someone), typically to force him or her to do what one wants.

I’m all about free speech, but that does not mean you get to attack me, to insult me, to bully me into thinking how you  think I should. Sorry, but that’s just not how it goes kids.

Anyways, those that know me, you know how to get ahold of me.
Good news? This probably means I’ll post here more than once every couple of years!!

Tom
